It is this balance of power and elasticity which has made it possible for Berger to sustain such a versatile career. A life dedicated to Dance at the highest level has led Kristina to discover multiple ways of working with movement, and it is Kristina’s passion to share these methods with a greater population, from within the Dance world and beyond! Kristina is grateful to now be doing just that in Sweden, through teaching Pilates and her own movement method “Energy & Flow”, at two highly acclaimed wellness spas, Marstrands Havshotell and Hagabadet in Göteborg. Kristina is also currently a guest artist at Balettakademien, where she Horton Technique.
In recent adventures since twirling across the Atlantic to Sweden, Kristina has presented her own work in collaboration with world class musicians and visual artists at Strandverket, Konstkapellet, and Marstrands Skola in Marstrand, Sweden; at The Ballery and PAS in Berlin, and continues to perform regularly in Berlin, including a recent season with Erick Hawkins Dance Company at the prestigious Haus der Berliner Festispiele with full orchestra Ensemble MusikFabrik and world class pianist Agnese Toniutti.
Kristina has been on modern dance faculty in NYC teaching Horton Technique at Marymount Manhattan College, Steps on Broadway, Joffrey School of Ballet, Peridance Capezio Center, Ballet Arts at City Center, with guest artist positions at Taipei National University of the Arts; La Guardia High School of Performing Arts; Tecniche di Danza Moderna in Rome, Italy; Boston Youth Moves; Harvard-Radcliffe Modern Dance Co., The Storytellers Intensive with Marinda Davis, and Lake Tahoe Dance Collective.IN CLASS
The Horton Technique is powerful in its physicality while also subtle in its finesse and nuance of beautifully detailed isolations. The Horton Technique defies any limits on what the body can do. Whether bodies are tipping off balance, elongating horizontally or vertically, moving so slowly that a gentle stillness has stopped time itself, falling and holding just a breath from the floor, there still always exists that last extra inch to strive for.
Kristina Berger’s class focuses on technical precision balanced with ease, flow and breath; the importance of transitions between the impressively athletic positions; and the vital collaboration between Dancer and Music to produce dynamic, confident artists who have the ability to communicate with their audiences honestly and passionately.
