Bio:
JENNY MAJOR is a Copenhagen based versatile dancer/teacher/choreographer. My main goal is to create art that people can relate to and connect through. To build bridges, encourage learning and integrity. In my every day life I am recident choreographer with Metropolis.dk, giving workshops and collaborate with the performance artists in the premacies as well as teaching jazz and contemporary in the community. I’ve been fortunate to give workshops internationally – lately in Mocambique, but also in USA, Argentina, Cuba and Palestine. Born and raised in Sweden I’m very happy to have the opportunity to teach at DCV and DCS.
Class description:
IN CLASS I try to give the dancers a well rounded workout as well as feeding the artistery and joy of dance. I aim to keep the focus on flow and musicality through a set of choreographed excercises covering technical aspects, stretch and strenght. I want the dancer to leave the class feeling well placed, ready to work, uplifted and seen. I follow a plan but try to also give time to the needs of the particular group on the particular day. The phrase at the end can be in various styles, from musical theatre jazz to lyrical, street or classic. Depending on attendance we can build on the same combination or do different every class.
Klasserna är en del av projektet Vidare som drivs av Språng och riktar sig till dig som är professionell dansare eller har stor danserfarenhet – oavsett funktionalitet.
Tillsammans utforskar vi en funktionsöverskridande danspraktik och hur vi kan skapa ett hållbart dansliv genom hela livet, även när kroppen förändras.
Projektet utvecklas i samarbete med Danscentrum Väst, Dansalliansen, Regionteater Väst och Danskompaniet Spinn.
