Bio:
REBECCA YATES works with dance and choreography. She is the artistic curator of Dans i Blekinge and Brådjupa Blekinge Dance festival. Yates holds a BA Hons from London Contemporary Dance School (2007-2010), and a MA in Choreography from SKH, Samtida Dansdidaktik (2015-2019). She is part if the Dans i Blekinges ensemble, Masskollektivet.
After finishing her masters, Yates have continued to develop her practice, which is a union of pedagogical and choreographic processes. A practice that takes into account didactic and artistic approaches and has proven to be transferable to different contexts. Her artistic activity in recent years has included taking care of both her own work and processes as well as those of others through working with DiB and Brådjupa. Yates work cares for the becoming of dance through choreographic, bodily and contextual phenomena.
Class description:
IN CLASS we will activate different sources that generate movement and create space for dance to happen. Based on coexistence and the understanding of movement as always present, we try to become part of the dance. The importance of remembering why we dance will guide us. We will work on opening our awareness to space and time and responsibly investing in our relationship with dance. The class participants will improvise, dance phrases, spend time with them and befriend them.
