Event Series Event Series: Somatics: Julie Nioche

Somatics: Julie Nioche

Thursday, 7 November kl. 10:1511:45

I samarbete med Regionteater Väst, Dansalliansen och Kulturakademin.

JULIE NIOCHE is a choreographer, dancer and osteopath. Since 2000, she has been combining theory and practice around the body’s knowledge to develop her creative processes and research. She combines somatic practices and dance improvisation to develop dances in which each individual is the author of his or her own gestures. She founded A.I.M.E., an atypical “dance company”, defined from the outset (2007) as both the bearer of her own artistic projects, and an incubator for collective research and creative projects focused on social issues.

A.I.M.E. has developed a creative center and a resource center for socially and physically engaged artistic projects (PasKe). A.I.M.E. believes in a form of dance that sees gesture and sensibility as shared knowledge, destined to circulate through the bodies of all and sow the seeds of emancipation. At the heart of her work is a search for the invention of a non-ordinary, powerful body, which, even when constrained or made vulnerable, becomes a repository of dreamlike images and imaginary creatures.

DAILY TRAINING:

I propose to share the practices I go through to be available for creative work and adaptation in transmission and project work engaged in fields other than that of culture. It’s important for me to know the needs and desires of the people in the class, and I’ll adapt my practices to suit the group and the day.

The regular practices I go through regularly are :

– Yoga crossed with anatomical details from osteopathy. Series of postures in movement to develop awareness of our supports, alignments, twists and orientation in space, precision in limb placement… Muscular strengthening to awaken our structures and stretching of muscle chains often overused to maintain flexibility and adaptability.

– A variety of touch practices from different techniques such as osteopathy, Thai and Kalari massage.

– Visualization to enter a modified state of consciousness and stimulate improvisations.

– Game-like practices to work on dissociation, the accumulation of instructions, etc.

– Exchanges with other artists to nourish transmissions.
