anna vilhelmine wallin (pippi) is a movement artist based in Malmö, south of Sweden.
Her work is experienced through performances, writings, classes/trainings and workshops where she use improvisation and composition to research the fragile as the solid.
She teach, curates and organise spaces for movement as a form of art and practice with a focus on Contact Improvisation, contemporary dance and instant composition for performative spaces. Today Wallin works with dance theatre companies, corporates, art institutions and festivals around the world.
Through the years she has worked with Dorte Bjerre Jensen, Nancy Stark Smith, Nita Little, Ohad Naharin, Rami Be’er, Sara Shelton Mann and Yamit Kalef to mention a few. Influenced by an extension of bodies her movement practice is driven to hold less, sense more and explore what we can build together from curiosity and joy. Find out more: www.wallinworks.com
IN CLASS we work with tools on how to listen and meet in space and time. We explore techniques to soften, greet and prepare to move with other bodies. Through structured exercises we break down the principals of the form to find momentum through solo, pair and group work. We discover various ways how to challenge our pathways up, down and around by spiralling in and out of contact. The material includes how to expand our relationship to the floor, another body and research the potentials between us. Together we enter high yet gentle and effortless physicality within instant composition and flow in the practise of Contact Improvisation.
